Parent Show-Off: Sunday, 2:45PM

All registered participants are eligible for scholarships! Dancers may pick up a number during check-in. We do not have a traditional closed audition. Instead, the Faculty choose to reward dancers who catch their eye in classes- whether it’s recognizing technique, drive, style or enthusiasm. This process not only permits more class time, but also allows for a controlled, creative, casual atmosphere. We ask that you wear your scholarship number throughout the entire weekend so each faculty can get the chance to see you during your class performance! We will announce our winners at the Scholarship Ceremony on Sunday.

To make this workshop a success, each student is being asked to please bring a cellphone (with storage space) to class. Lane will use cellphone to record students audition tape on. In this workshop, Lane is showing students and parents how easy it is to record an audition (at home) incase they ever have to do a self tape for agent, manager or project.

Open to all levels of acting abilities. Scenes are like something you might see on the CW, FreeForm, Nickelodeon or Disney. At the start of the Workshop Lane will give a short discussion on how to make your scene “POP” with energy, focus and being aware of your space. He will also educate students on what casting offices are looking for. “It’s so much more than just knowing the words on the page”.

Students will run through their scenes then (one at a time) students will perform their scene on tape. Each student will be given one-on-one feedback from Lane that will help take their auditions and techniques to the next level. Lane will provide a reader to read opposite each student when filming their scene. Students may hold the script while performing but please be as familiar with scene as possible. When filming, remember to BRING IT with energy, focus and lots of style.

This event is too exciting not to capture on film! Our professional photographers and videographers will be onsite all weekend so be sure to check out the photos of yourselves to purchase.  We will provide photos and videos of our Nex•hibition as well as photos and videos from call.  We encourage you to capture photos and videos throughout the weekend to share socially as long as it is not disruptive to the shows or classroom.

It can be difficult to catch the Faculty in between classes for photos, so we have designed a great system ensuring that all dancers can have a Nex•Us and Camp•Nex photo in a timely and organized fashion! These are the only times we will host a group photo session with the faculty throughout the workshop. In order for this opportunity to run smoothly, we ask that you abide by the procedure created by the staff and faculty. Camp•Nex Photoshoot will be Saturday immediately following the last class in the Camp•Nex Room. The Nex•Us Photoshoot will be Saturday night immediately following the Nex•hibition. These photos are available to purchase online at NEXUS Photos & Videos.
